Cindy : 504-355-6159
Capt Jack: 5044538382

Bridgeside Marina at Grand Isle said they just could not host the event, due to all the disruptions of the oil spill, and lodging was just impossible. We'll be back at Grand Isle again when things are better!

Thanks for your continued support.

Really wanted to fish all of the IFA events, but $100 is alot for me to drop on a tournament right now. Maybe I can get in on these next year if they're still doing them.

My cheapness prohibits me from participating. And I'm not fond of them for bailing on the Empire event.

Taken off the Redfish Board: Quote function is not working for this for some reason?

As always, guys, I am reading your posts and noticing the volume is increasing. Those of you who have been here for a while should know that the IFA is not going to do you wrong on this “BP created mess”.

Here's how it's going to shake out:

We'll judge the LA division points on two events, Cocodrie and Delacroix.
Teams in those two events will qualify for the Championship, as is.

If we'd had the Empire event as scheduled, we can predict pretty solidly what the tournament would have contributed to the Championship prize pool. No angler will be asked to pay any of that amount. Likewise we don’t expect anglers from the other divisions to suffer for the Empire event being canceled by having the Championship prize pool reduced, so the IFA will make up the difference in the prize pool from our own funds.

The 2010 Championship prize pool will be exactly as if the Empire tournament was held, and had the same number of entries as the other two events.

As far as the Ultra 6 events, this program requires paid participation for 6 events, and that will be up to the anglers to achieve however their circumstances dictate. Any team that counted Empire as an Ultra 6 event will need to arrange with our office to get in another event entry before the season ends.

We are working hard to finalize details of the 2010 Championship, and have every reason to believe it will be a quality event as always, and hope to have it in one of the areas impacted by the oil spill. The local area residents need our support in their economic recovery, and we are very close to being done with this.

It's great to know that the IFA is trying to work out the mess created by BP. Those of us who can attend should try to do so to show our support from this region.
I know it is not for everybody so I am not trying to stir the pot, critize anyone or speak badly of anyone. If you can, please do.
Thats all.

Give me some details, I'm considering it.

When can you launch Sunday? When is the weigh-in Sunday? You just have to catch-photo-release 1 red and 1 trout? You can fish anywhere open to the public as long as you make it to the weigh-in on time? Is attendance at the captain's meeting required? How do you know it's only 10 people?

Choupique
08-25-2010, 03:45 PM
I called Kristy Shad who is in charge of registration to find the number signed up. Of course more can sign up at the meeting at 6pm in Delacroix. You can leave and launch anywhere after the captains meeting at safe light; usually 6am or so; take a picture of boat at launch at safe light. Then fish as you catch them on the ruler WITH YOUR TOKEN! Weigh in is 1pm-3pm. Be in line by 3pm. turn in camera chip.

Choup, I'm in and paid up. Long tyrip from the Lafayette tourney. Gairi and a few others are also making the drive.
Wish there was a better way to get the packet than having to drive there on Saturday, Delacroix is SUCH a loevly tourist attraction on a Saturday night, can't wait!

I will sign up and pay at the captains meeting but I am certainly going. This ought to be a pretty fun event I think.

I thought sfter the last one someone said you can have a friend pick up your token and ruler for you if you can't make the captain's meeting. Best thing would be to contact someone there to be sure.

Yea I heard you can get someone to check you in and get your stuff at the meeting, try and call Kristy with the IFA at 941.266.5338 or send her a text. I’m gonna try and fish the orange beach IFA the day after Falln’Tide and so someone will have to do the same for me there as the FNT weigh-in wont finish till 6-7 most likely.

Choup:

I'm planning the same thing for Orange Beach so let me know if we can work that out because of FNT.

My place in Alabama is only about 20 minutes from Orange Beach. So far, Gairi and I are planning on going if we can get the captain's meeting thing worked out.

Change of venue prompted by logistical concerns surrounding cleanup efforts of BP oil spill.

LIZELLA, Ga. – Two months after the ongoing oil leakage from an offshore drilling rig owned by BP forced the cancellation of one event, the IFA Redfish Tour Presented by Cabela’s and the IFA Kayak Tour Presented by Hobie Fishing announce a second modification to the Louisiana Division schedule. Slated for August 28-29, the final regular-season event for the Louisiana Division has been moved to Delacroix, La., amid concerns regarding host-site availability, lodging and other logistical necessities.

Originally scheduled for Grand Isle, La., the competition dates for the final Louisiana Division of the 2010 regular season are unchanged. The Louisiana Division points race, which determines the division’s Team of the Year and championship qualifiers, will be determined by points awarded for the Delacroix and Cocodrie events. Following the cancellation of the Empire, La., event due to the BP oil spill, the division’s regular-season schedule was trimmed from three tournaments to two.

Requirements for the Ultra 6 championship qualification will remain unchanged. Ultra 6 program participation will still require that teams participate in six regular-season events in any combination of divisions in order to receive automatic entry into the IFA Championship. Teams that registered for the Empire event to include in their Ultra 6 qualifications will need to arrange registration in an alternate, regular-season event in order to qualify.

The weekend’s activities for the Louisiana’s final regular-season event begin Friday, August 27 with the IFA Redfish Tour registration from 5-7 p.m. at the Sweetwater Marina (6205 Delacroix Hwy., Delacroix, LA 70085) with the Captain’s Meeting to follow. Anglers will launch from the location at safe light on Saturday for the one-day event. Check-in times will be assigned at the Captains Meeting.

Competitors in the IFA Kayak Fishing Tour Presented by Hobie Fishing will have a registration and captain’s meeting from 6-7 p.m. on Saturday, August 28 at Sweetwater Marina with Sunday’s weigh in to be hosted there in conjunction with Massey’s Professional Outfitters. Check-in times will be announced at the captain’s meeting.

In its inaugural season, the IFA Kayak Tour Presented by Hobie Fishing continues to meet the needs of anglers from Texas to the Carolinas, most recently by announcing modifications to a pair of rules for its premier, kayak-only tournament series.

Throughout the remainder of the 2010 season, all tournament participants will compete using artificial baits only and will not be allowed to use any live, formerly live or prepared baits. In addition to introducing artificial-bait only guidelines, the IFA Redfish Tour will also cease its cap on the 27-inch maximum length measurement on redfish caught during competition. Previously, competitors could receive up to the maximum of 27 inches in length for any redfish that adheres to the guidelines set forth in this catch-photograph-release tournament format. IFA Kayak Tour tournament winners are decided by a combined total length measurement of their largest redfish and largest speckled sea trout. This rule modification now gives anglers the credit for the entire size of their catch, helping to fuel interest in redfish competitions and spotlight those conservation efforts that help ensure trophy-class fishing opportunities.

Congrats to Nolafish, Choupique, and Swamppro on their winnings. Nola caught a hawg trout and Swampy caught a bull red. Honorable mention to Breamkiller for catching a trout not residing in Grand Isle - that should count for something.

yestrday was a crazy day my friend perry and I fished G.I. I caught the trout around 10:30 we left at 11:00 so we whould have time to make it back. we drove through some really bad storms. And then my truck dies . had to call my dad to pick me up with only an hour and a half until the cut off time. left perry with the truck to wait for my wife and AAA. I was so stress out and could not keep still the whole way there(sorry dad) I really did not think I was going to make it. We got to the marina with six min. to spare. it was a trip of a lifetime

I do hope the IFA and Hobie continue to host this event. I would love to have the opportunity to redeem myself...stupid trout (he he). Perhaps next year I will get the chance to fish more than one of the events also.

Congrats to all!!!

Well I have not seen it mentioned but have a stupid question....Can the same fish be entered into the Star tourney as well? Just asking....

Hobie1Kenobie
08-31-2010, 05:41 AM
That was my intent, to see if I could find something for star. I did intend to CPR my IFA entries and follow the rules but had hopes of pulling a double whammy. No dice. I am headed out Thursday to see what's cracking though.

Where Y'ak?
08-31-2010, 05:55 AM
The "R" of the CPR- Catch-Photo-Release for the IFA prohibits entry of the same fish into the STAR tournament.

IFA Rules:
7. PERMITTED FISHING METHODS. All fish must be caught, photographed, and released alive
in a conventional sporting manner...

12. SCORING. The event uses catch-photo-release scoring determined by the length of each fish...
