Hit a local pond off Essen today between jobs and decided to break out the 3wt. My casting skills need much work. I spent more time re-tying due to snag ups on my back cast. Anyway, fished for about an hour and ended up with this cute little guy caught on a fluff butt.

You fishing that pond off United Plaza? I know there's a pond back there, but I've yet to try it out.
A good roll cast will eliminate the snags from behind, takes a little practice but it ain't hard.

Yeah, off of United Plaza. I went for a job back there a while back and saw the ponds. There was a guy there bass fishing but not catching anything.
I gotta work on that roll cast.

No man, that's just some really high gloss cork. They have that on all the top end fly rods these days. Didn't you know that?

yak-aholic, I went to that pond off Essen last week. The bluegill were on their beds and they were very feisty. I probably caught between 30-40, 10 being a good size. As far as the bass were concerned, I caught 1 dink, but saw some bigger ones. I saw a big ol orange koi too. I talked to one guy who was setting up catfish rods as I left, he said he had been doing pretty good on filleting size cats at dusk. Thanks for the heads up about that pond, it's good to have a place so close to where I live in my back pocket.
