I went to Cobra Kayak's website. Has anyone checked out their Marauder? It's 14'1"long, 31" wide, and 52 lbs. If you click on the link below, then click on the Marauder link. A pdf file will load. The main feature I like about that kayak is the console hatch that is sealed from the hull. Looks like it would make a great bait-well for people who use live bait. Also should be able to store several Plano trays If that's your preference.

I promise you if you wear over a size 7 you are going to have problems with that one. I believe the FnD is a max size 10 because of its much smaller hatch.

On the pdf brochure, it says that the new models have 2 inches more per side in the foot wells.

I do like all the proportions of the marauder , I like the hatch too, I just think it would be a great boat for a guy like me. I like to sit with my legs a little opened rather than close together parallel.

Their site lists someone in Metarie that I've never heard of with a (225) area code. I called the number and got a machine so I left a message. I'll let y'all know what I hear.

I'm looking at the picture and I'm asking, "two inches wider than what?" Because that sure looks narrower than the FnD foot wells and they were too small for me. I had to make a special prop to put my feet in a good spot or I had to take off my shoes to fit in the well. I wear a 11.5-12 shoe so part of the problem is my feet.

All I can say is test drive before you buy - and if it fits your feet it is a good platform - rides high in the water - very stable.

Now that looks nice as well. I like the layout on that.

I can see kayak designs starting to incorporate baitwells and livewells more and more. That's a pretty sweet set-up as well.

so what other kayaks should I not bother looking at to buy since I wear a size 13-14? I had no idea SOTs had foot size restrictions. My big boats have no problem fitting in the 'noe.

Get you a Malibu XFactor...you will stay dry, you will have plenty of room for your butt, your feet and your gear.
Stabile, has a 600 LB weight capacity

Those X-Factors have some sick tankwells too. I saw one with a milk crate and a 48 qt ice chest in the tank well. With a 600# capacity, you can carry just about anything you could imagine needing.

BRB, the only reason the shoe size is an issue is because of the raised center to allow for the center storage hatch which leaves a narrow track between there and the gunnels for your feet.
