Found this place off Hwy 42 after Hwy 63. Haven't checked Google Maps but it's supposed to be on the Tickfaw. $3 per boat launch. Might be a nice spot for a paddle up and float back down trip. Not too far for our Ascension Parish people.

You could probably even do a float from there to the State Park as a short day trip. Good find.

Yeah, that was another idea once I looked at it on Google. Looks like about 3 miles straight line to the State Park. I don't know how far it would be if you included all of the curves of the river. Anybody wanna hook up one day and give it a shot? State Park opens at 7:00am, but could probably park by the front gate earlier than that. Talked to the people at J&W and they said if you get there before they're up and about, just launch and square away when you get back. Let me know what y'all think.

I took some pics with my phone and have them loaded into my computer, but can't figure out how to post them. Can anyone help?

I t looks like it would be a nice float..
I've never fished over that way.. How long does it take to get there from Prairieville? and..
How long would it take to make that float with normal current? Could it be done in 2-3 hours?
I have been looking for somewhere to do some quick after work trips during the week...

I agree that it looks like it would be a nice float...
I can be at the landing in about 20 minutes and I live in Prairieville, just around the corner from the 42/44 intersection.
Not sure how long of a float that would be since I have never made a float like that. I think the best thing to do would be to go on a Saturday morning when you don't have any other plans just to find out how long it would take to make the float.
As far as doing a quick after work trip, I don't see why you couldn't put in there, paddle upstream a ways, then float back down. You could almost ensure taking as long as you want on a trip like that.

Is that the one in Livingston? I am about 19 miles away. I would be interested in taking a float down that way..caisting a rod along the way

On Google Earth, it looks to be between 5.5 - 6 river miles between J&W and Tickfaw SP. With the current on that river being very slow I would imagine fishing it would take all day, 8+ hours. This comes from experience fishing rivers, especially those with faster currents. If you want a short day trip, just do a paddle up from either launch. I'm up for a full day float though whenever the water color does not look like it looks in those pictures.

Yeah.. I agree on the water color.. I would think it woud be clearing up a little since we haven't had a lot of rain for the last week or so..
I think it might be a good fall paddle/..
Not sure how deep it is, but I bet the water is pretty warm about now..
I definitely want to give it shot when it gets a little cooler..

I'll have to keep going back and checking, but I figured it was a bit dirty for a fishing trip. Would like to go with someone who has a bit more experience fishing these rivers. I'll drive out and check it from time to time and post up when it looks good so we can get a hook-up together.
When I was at Tickfaw State Park on Tuesday, the bayou that they launch canoes into was pretty clear. Had that black tea look to it, but as soon as I we got to the river, it muddied up like in the pics.
