I have a Hobie Revo and I want to put a rod holder somewhere forward of my seat. I am looking for opinions from people on which type (Scotty or Ram tube) and location. Thanks in advance.

Ram Tubes work real well. Here's how mine are mounted.

Marshdaddy, thanks for the pics, you got a nice setup there! I like the location you installed them in. I will most likely go with Ram tubs as well, Thanks.

A few years ago I quit putting a rod holder in the front. I find they get in the way more than they serve a legit purpose.
Your mileage may vary.
My opinion would probably change if I was inclined to troll often.

Pic is kinda crappy, but below is my set up...one rod holder stays out of the way and lets me keep one side of the yak free of any obstructions...in case I need to "remount" unexpectedly.
Also, unlike the tube mounts, this RAM mount articulates in various planes letting me adjust it infinitely depending on my conditions...just saw off the bottom of the rod holder and it will fit any rod you have. Also be sure to use the small two screw mounting plate seen above in the other pics and in this pic AND when mounting be mindful of the rudder up/down cables (depending on what side you mount on).
Reflectors are optional, but keeps me visible on those dark morns.:)

BayouCadillac thanks for posting pic. I have a good idea of what I want and where to place it.
