I use it in the lowered position and just slide the kayak in the bed. Strap down and your ready to go.

I have some Yakima stuff if you are looking for something like that. I purchased brand new and never used... Have 2 crossbars, 2 q towers, 4 locks, and 2 of the rain gutter pcs - all never used. If you are interested lets talk...not giving them away but will come off the new price somewhat.

I donno, I can't say I remember visiting anyone in Gonzales. I would need more than just a last name to know.

Branch Office what sort of price are we looking at? would any fit my tacoma?
I think I found a rack in Baton Rouge Havn't looked at them yet, will eyeball them tomorrow evening.
I am also hungry for a Pro Angler, The yellow one has me scratching and itching for it.

Look at the other one first especially if it is new since mine are and we will talk. If you look at the Yakima web site you can custom fit any car or truck with the module parts. The only thing that really changes is the mounting clips and the length of the bars on the roof mount systems. I have 58" bars (2) never used, 2 towers (never used) 4 lock kits (never used) and the clips but they are specific for certain trucks. See what number you need and I can tell you more. Also have a set of the aero saddles (never used) as well.

They don't give any piece of it away but I am willing to make kinda of deal to try and recoup some of what I spent depending on what all you would be interested in. Just to give you an idea the parts together cost around $300 (crazy I know but true).

I decided to keep hauling the way I was doing it and modify that.

The Yakima stuff should work. I just got the same set up for my 2000 Tacoma prerunner. I'm just doing one bar. So 2 q towers and I also needed 2 Q16 clips to attach to the car, locks ...I will then use a bed extender like the one shown above. I'll set it to be high not long. I have a tool box in my bed so the already short bed is way to short even with the extra 4ft the extender gives me. For me the two bars on top of the cab will be two close for any of my uses so I'm just getting one. If this had come up a few days earlier i would split branch offices with you. I just ordered. There are also some systems that attach to the bed and make a kinda elevated frame.

That is kind of what I was doing..Had to buy two bars although I only wanted one. You also know what I am talking about with the price as well. Ouch!

The price ain't cheap. My single bar set up with no locks or accessories was $160 no tax, no shipping. I was quoted about $170 locally. This is my third Yakima rack system. I think they are great.

There's a guy here in Prairieville that carries a canoe on a Tacoma with a Yakima roof rack. I stopped him one day and looked at his. I think he said he used to work at Backpacker. It was a no-drill rack that kind of clamped in between the door and roof. I haven't been able to find it myself on their site so anyone who thinks they can help, I'd be interested too. All I need is the bases. I have 2 sets of towers and 2 bars.

That is the kind I have ..... I think I got it at Backpacker or Masseys in BR. You should be able to find it on the Yakima website. Looks like it is what they call a naked roof system and the clips are either a q127 or q128 depending on year model and cab type.

I punched in my vehicle information and the only option I got was a trailer. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Sorry to kinda rob your thread Yellow Sub...
I called Backpacker and he said that I would need the G16 or maybe it was Q16. Crap, I didn't write it down. A set of 2 cost $35. Might be able to work out a deal with you Yellow Sub if you want one set of my towers. They're the locking type towers and I got the whole set for nothing from my brother-in-law. PM me if you're interested and I'll send you my phone number so we can set something up

Yellow Sub bought my Saris rack that I used on my '99 Tacoma extra cab. I've got two more Saris bars that fit my wife's old Pathfinder. I can make a deal on those too.
